A thrilling game that featured 3 new players. The first inning was scoreless for both teams, due to the dominant pitching by Howard and John Cronin. The second inning had some runs scored, John Cronin hit a 2-run HR and Robbie Casper walked in a couple runs. The game was tied at the end of 2. John Cronin added another blast in the 3rd, but John Tamburino and Sam Enderby hit their first career HR back-to-back to answer back. At the end of 3, the score was 4-3 in favor of Karen/Howard/John/Sam. There was no more scoring in the game and they won.

Father's Day wiffleball was a great day for the two fathers in the league. Here are the results:
Game #1: Howard Cronin vs. John Cronin/Joe Cronin
Howard Cronin, father of John and Joe, played valiantly in defeat. With 8 strikeouts and a home run, he forced extra innings against the top 2 MVP candidates this season. This was a classic battle that went the distance. John and Joe got the game started with two 2-run innings, but Howard answered back with a huge 3rd inning. Howard hit a grand slam off Joe Cronin to cap off a 5 run inning. John and Joe added 2 in the 4th. Howard tied it up in the bottom and the 4th. After a scoreless 5th, the game was set for extra innings. John Cronin hit a 3-run HR to put John/Joe ahead 9-6. John got the save in the bottom of the 6th and John/Joe won. Howard Cronin had 8 K's, the most impressive outing of the season. Joe Cronin was held to 0 HR, but still added 4 K's. John had the Play of the Week with a diving stop of a grounder.

Game #2: Karen Cronin/John Cronin vs. Howard Cronin/Joe Cronin
In a test of his MVP potential, John Cronin took self-proclaimed "loser of the league" on his team. John had a hard time generating offense, but held Joe/Howard on bay with 6 K's. Joe Cronin had a spectacular day at the plate with a HR in every inning, 4/5 were solo HR. Joe struck in the first inning with a 3 run shot of Karen Cronin. He added a solo HR in every other inning. Howard and Joe pitched well against Karen/John, shutting them out. John had multiple base hits and walks, but he couldn't advance on the basepaths.
Final Score: Karen/John: 0 Howard/Joe: 7
Week 2 was another fun week of action filled with season debuts for multiple players. There was 1 game played.
Game #1: Andrew Cronin/John Cronin/Pat Cronin vs. Karen Cronin/Carl Cronin/Brian Cronin
This game was an offensive war. 5 out of the six players hit home runs. Pitching was hard to find in the midst of all the offense production. The game got started out with a bang when Brian Cronin hit a 1st inning grand slam. John Cronin answered back in the first inning with a grand slam of his own. The score at the end of the first inning was already 7-4 in favor of Andrew/John/Pat. The roles reversed in the second and Karen/Carl/Brian had their own outburst. The score at the end of 2 was 12-10 in favor of them. Karen/Carl/Brian added 2 more runs in the 3rd with HR from Karen and Carl. Brian held off the hot bats of Andrew/John/Pat with a shutout 3rd inning, but couldn't hold them in the 4th when Andrew/John/Pat went off for 8 runs to secure a victory. John led both teams with 2 HR. Brian and Pat each had 2 K's.

Opening Day was a fun day! The field was in horrible condition with all the rain the day before. We modified the rules to ensure player's safety. Anyways, here are the results from the day.
Game 1: Ryan Cook/Karen Cronin/John Cronin/Joe Hubly vs. Randy Cook/Amanda Cook/Joe Cronin/Howard Cronin
The first game of the season was one that featured a showdown between 2013 MVP John Cronin and 2013 Defensive POY Joe Cronin. Randy/Amanda/Joe/Howard got on the board in the second inning with 2 runs. In the top of the 5th, John Cronin took the mound and got himself in a jam with the bases loaded and Joe Cronin at the plate. With a 3-2 count , Joe crushed a grand slam to make the score 6-0. Down 6 in the bottom of the fifth, John took matters into his own hands leading off with a solo-HR and slamming a grand slam of his own off Joe Cronin, who came in relief. At the end of day, the 5-run rally wasn't enough and Randy/Amanda/Joe/Howard won 6-5. Amanda had an impressive day on the mound painting the corners and striking out Karen Cronin. Howard Cronin pitched wonderfully in his inning, striking out the side and getting 2 K's. Joe Cronin was inconsistent on the mound, but still managed 2 K's and hit a grand slam at the plate. John Cronin had a 5th inning outburst with 2 HR and pitched decent with 1 K. Karen Cronin got the start and threw 1 K.

Game 2: Ryan Cook/Karen Cronin/Joe Hubly/Howard Cronin vs. Randy Cook/Amanda Cook/Joe Cronin/John Cronin
A game that was decided in the 2nd inning with back-to-back HR from John and Joe Cronin. The game wasn't the same after the outburst. Randy Cook found his pitching rhythm and had 3 K's. Joe Cronin found his power stroke and clubbed 3 HR. John Cronin had 1 HR also. Karen Cronin pitched great with 3 K's.

Game 3: John Cronin/Howard Cronin vs. Joe Hubly/Joe Cronin
A game between the league's 4 strongest members. A classic battle that proved to be the game of the day. Joe Cronin struck first in the first with a solo HR. Joe and Joe added 2 more runs in the second. John and Howard had just 1 very strong inning in the 2nd putting up 5 runs. Both John and Howard hit HR in the inning. Joe and Joe played catch-up in the 4th, adding 2 more runs to tie the game. In extra-innings (6th) Howard Cronin came through and held Joe and Joe to no runs. John Cronin came up to the plate against Joe Hubly and hit a walk-off solo HR. John Cronin played marvelously and proved his MVP potential, coming through when it mattered most. He pitched dominantly, letting in only 1 run and striking the side each inning he pitched. He was clutch at the plate also. Howard Cronin pitched when it mattered most too, coming through in the 6th. He also added his first HR of the season. Joe Hubly struggled at the mound at times, but for the most part pitched well. He also hit his first HR of the season. Joe Cronin had a balanced day on the mound and at the plate. He hit 3 HR and threw 3 K's. He was a little wild when pitching, walking runners on base and then giving up HR, but he played as well as he could at the plate.
